Welcome to Abingdon Atoms Korfball Club
Abingdon Atoms Korfball Club was founded in 2000. We are a friendly bunch with varying abilities and experience, from our head coach with his many years of korfball mastery to our current crop of beginners who have only joined the team this year.
We train once a week and play regularly in both league and cup matches against eight other clubs in the Oxfordshire Korfball League. In the summer, we also enter various korfball tournaments held throughout the country and abroad (recent trips include Slovakia, Spain and Sweden).
What is korfball?
Korfball combines elements of basketball, netball and many new skills. For a demonstration, watch this video. It is a mixed-gender, team-based sport suited to players of all ages (16+) and abilities. More…
We are looking for new team mates!
We are always on the lookout for new players to join us. The club is split into three teams and the third team is perfect for beginners. Alternatively, the first and second teams are open to more experienced players.
If you are new to the Abingdon area, joining the club is a great way to meet new people. We have an active social committee who arrange many different “extra-curricular” activities, from laser tag to beer festivals.
If you’d like to give korfball a try, you can join in with our informal and relaxed training sessions. Your first three weeks will be COMPLETELY FREE with no obligation to continue if you decide it’s not for you. More…
