Atoms (2) 13 – 10 Basingstoke (1)

Atoms 2 had a tougher challenge today, facing one of the winningest teams in recent OKA history.  The Bulls arrived in Oxford with a slightly weakened team, but this was still going to be difficult.

Things started evenly with early goals from Laurence, Alex and Tayebeh matched by the opposition.  Half time happened with Atoms 4-5 down, but what can only have been an inspirational team talk meant that the Atoms scored 4 out of the next 5 goals to take what would prove to be an unassailable lead.

Laurence and Victor under the post

Under normal playing down restrictions Alex Girl was under instruction not to shoot unless she really had to, so a lot of collecting was done by her.  Her divisional team mates just kept on shooting, and before the end of the game Laurence, Rich and Katie had all scored at that end.

It was starting to get a bit close as Basingstoke came back into it, but good goals from Flash, Dave and Rich saw the Atoms home.

Special mentions to Rich and Katie who looked at home playing up into division 1 and to Steven too, he played well against a tricky opponent in his first match as a full-on A2 player.
